Angela Wilder is a marriage and family therapy intern who holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. But it was her marriage to basketball Hall-of-Fame member James Worthy that she credits as the inspiration for her first book. "When it comes to being married to a powerful partner, my marriage to James was the real life equivalent to earning a Ph.D. While the backdrop of our relationship was professional sports, the issues and challenges we faced are universal. So too, are the solutions," Wilder writes.
Wilder has worked with inner-city children and young adults at A Place Called Home, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles. She has written articles on varied topics, such as stay-at-home fathers and children helping the poor and homeless, for the Santa Monica Star. To radio listeners in the Los Angeles area, Wilder is known by the moniker "Minivan Maniac" on the weekly radio segment she co-hosts on KTYM AM 1460. A veteran interview subject, Wilder has appeared on national television programs, including Oprah, 20/20, Inside Edition, CNN features (Greta Van Susteren, Wolf Blitzer, and Paula Zahn), the Jesse Ventura Show, 48 Hours Investigates, and the John Walsh Show.
The mother of two athletic daughters, Wilder spends much of her leisure time attending their sporting events. She enjoys reading, singing, doing community service work, attending live theater, visiting the public library, museums, and the planetarium, "playing" outdoors, and watching classic black-and-white movies. She and her daughters live in Los Angeles with Sunyata, their overindulged Pug. She hopes to attain her motorcycle driving license in the near future.
