Venture Literary Sells How-to Book on Home Poker to St. Martin’s Press

On December 3, Greg Dinkin of Venture Literary, representing John Vorhaus, sold the North American rights to Poker Night, a hip poker instructional focusing on the home game to Marian Lizzi at St. Martin’s Press.

In Poker Night, John Vorhaus, author of four how-to books on poker and a columnist for Casino Player and Poker Player magazines, has created a unique approach to teaching basic poker strategy in a way that has never been taught before. Vorhaus shows readers how to win in the most popular poker game in the world—the home game, where the pots aren’t cut and the other players are there to have fun, and not to win money. From creating the right rules for a home game to knowing the intricacies of Texas Hold’em and seven-card stud, readers will learn how to milk their poker buddies for every cent—and keep them coming back for more.

Vorhaus is the only writer ever to have written for Card Player, Poker World, Poker Digest, Casino World, and Poker Europa. He is the author of five books—The Pro Poker Playbook, The Comic Toolbox, Creativity Rules!, Killer Poker, and Killer Poker Online—with a sixth on the way: Hold’em Killer Poker. He has also written for the television shows The Wonder Years, Married...with Children, and The Sentinel. His first feature film, Extreme Close-Up, was released in 2002, and his next movie, Hole in the World, is currently in development.
