Venture Literary Sells World Rights for Nanotechnology book to Crown Business

On February 1, 2002, Greg Dinkin, representing Jack Uldrich and Deb Newberry, sold World rights to The Next Big Thing Is Really Small: Nanotechnology and the Future of Big Business to John Mahaney and Shana Wingert at Crown Business Briefings, an imprint of Random House.

Jack Uldrich, deputy director of the Minnesota Office of Strategic and Long-Range Planning, is one of the leading authorities on nanotechnology, and Deb Newberry, a nuclear physicist and a former aerospace industry executive, is a highly esteemed business consultant. In The Next Big Thing Is Really Small, Uldrich and Newberry explore the fascinating world of nanotechnology and describe how executives and investors can profit from these seemingly unbelievable developments. They explain what nanotechnology is, the science behind it, and the factors driving its rapid development.

In April 2001, President George W. Bush announced that he would spend more than $500 million on the National Nanotechnology Initiative. Japan announced a $396 million initiative. BusinessWeek named nanotechnology one of the "Ten Technologies That Will Change Our Lives." Marc Andreessen, founder of Netscape, in an interview with Fortune said, "Someone’s going to make a shitload of money in nanotech."

Uldrich and Newberry, two regulars on the nanotech lecture circuit, are already scheduled to appear at seminars that include The World Futurist Society meeting in Philadelphia and the Nanotech 2002 seminar in Montreaux, Switzerland, in addition to numerous conferences held around the world. Uldrich is a regular guest analyst on Minnesota Public Radio and the Emmy-award winning public affairs television program Almanac. He has also appeared on CNN’s Inside Politics and The Point with Greta Van Susteren.

The Crown Business Briefings series offers an appealing solution to the dilemma of today's business audience: How to keep up with the rapid pace of change in knowledge while leading time-crunched lives. The series features short books on important topics of immediate and measurable benefit to today's broad audience of business readers.
