Venture Literary Sells Hip Party Planner to the Stars’ Book to Globe Pequot Press

On June 15, 2008, Jennifer de la Fuente of Venture Literary sold the North American rights to Party Perfect: Insider Secrets to Take Your Fete from Drab to Fab by Jes Gordon and Jessica Baumgardner to Hilary Black at Globe Pequot Press.

A veteran of the event-planning business for the past twenty years, Jes Gordon, along with cowriter and journalist Jessica Baumgardner, is now sharing her years of experience and tips with her new book, Party Perfect. This accessible, beautifully designed guide will give women from all walks of life the specific tools they need to design a wide range of events—from lavish to affordable—that reflect their personal style. Filled with chic, accessible photos and stylish illustrations, the book features a one-of-a-kind glossary of insider terms and secrets known only in the biz.

This party bible will be organized chronologically, going through every aspect of party planning, from concept and theme to budget and location. Whether readers are planning a huge event or an intimate gathering, Gordon’s tips will be useful—and easy on the wallet, particularly with Gordon’s knack for making everyday objects, like aluminum foil, into décor. The latter half of the book will be set up encyclopedia-style, with entries for all of the off-the-wall terms she’s addressed in the first half of the book.

Jes Gordon has been planning events for the past twenty years, first as a floral designer, later as the Events Director for Tavern on the Green, and finally, for the last decade, running her own events company, jesGORDON/properFUN. Collaborator Jessica Baumgardner is a writer and editor with more than ten years experience, contributing to publications such as Glamour, Good Housekeeping, and online magazines like Nerve.

Party Perfect will be the lead title for Globe Pequot’s new imprint, GPP Style, in fall 2009.
