Venture Literary Sells Hajjar Gibran’s The Return of the Prophet to Beyond Words/Simon & Schuster

On March 3, 2008, Greg Dinkin of Venture Literary sold World English rights to Hajjar Gibran’s The Return of the Prophet to Cynthia Black, publisher of Beyond Words. The book will be published in October, 2008, collaboratively with Simon & Schuster’s Atria imprint, the same combination that made The Secret a best-selling sensation. Translation rights are being handled by Whitney Lee, wlee@fieldingagency.com.

In 1923, Kahlil Gibran released his universally acclaimed masterpiece, The Prophet, renowned for its profound revelation of life’s deepest meaning. Yet Kahlil Gibran’s beloved tale left us with an unfulfilled promise of the Prophet’s return, when he wrote, “Should my voice fade your ears, and my love vanish in your memory, then I will come again.”

Now, a generation later, descending from Kahlil Gibran’s ancestral ray, comes the long-awaited answer to this promise. The Return of the Prophet, based on Hajjar’s real-life experiences, is an evocative fever-dream—a collection of inspiring words spoken to Hajjar by his great-cousin in a series of fantastic visions.

Like Kahlil, Hajjar writes with a poetic touch and offers ageless wisdom and life lessons through his brilliant words. But what makes his book even more inspiring is that there is a real flesh-and-blood story behind the wisdom, as Hajjar details his often heartbreaking and ultimately triumphant life.
