Venture Literary Sells Behind-the-Scenes Look at Ultimate Fighting Champion Ken Shamrock to Tuttle

On May 20, 2004, Greg Dinkin of Venture Literary sold the World rights to Beyond the Lion’s Den, by Ken Shamrock, to Jennifer Lantagne at Tuttle.

After the UFC was banned in 1998, Ultimate Fighting Champion Ken Shamrock was left to put his life back together, one piece at a time. He joined World Wrestling Entertainment, rose to fame again as a professional wrestler, and then took a hiatus in 2001 to once again embrace his true love—reality combat. Shamrock’s return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 2002 made it the largest grossing pay-per-view in the history of the sport.

Beyond the Lion’s Den will pick up where Shamrock’s first book, Inside the Lion’s Den, left off. By unveiling never-before-told stories of the professional wrestling world, the pitfalls of stardom, the harsh and painful realities of a full-contact fighter, and expert fighting and conditioning techniques, Shamrock will give the fans exactly what they have been waiting for—the unedited story of one of the most feared and respected athletes in all of sports.

Legendary martial artist Ken Shamrock was the first Superfight Champion of the UFC and founded The Lion’s Den in Northern California. Shamrock has been a guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Larry King Live, has appeared in Virtuosity and That ’70s Show, and has been featured in Time, Sports Illustrated, Black Belt, and Muscle and Fitness.
