Venture Literary Sells One-Hit Wonder Music Book to Citadel Press
On May 28, 2002, Frank R. Scatoni of Venture Literary sold the World Rights for Brent Manns 99 Red Balloons and 100 Other All-Time Great One-Hit Wonders to Richard Ember at Citadel Press.
From the Dream Academys "Life in a Northern Town" to Donna Lewiss "I Love You Always Forever," from Katrina & the Wavess "Walking on Sunshine" to OMCs "How Bizarre," 99 Red Balloons is a nostalgic jaunt through the world of pop musics irrepressible one-hit wonders. All of the best one-hitters from the beginning of the 1960s through the end of the 1990s are ranked from #101 to #1. Its also filled with fascinating bits of trivia that Mann masterfully weaves throughout, in a Pop-Up Video sort of waywhile also offering catchy song lyrics and chart positions to make every entry that much more fun.
Brent Mann, a former disc jockey and comedian, was a frequent contributor to The National Lampoon and a joke writer for Jay Leno, before he dropped out of society to obsessively research one-hit wonders.
