Venture Literary Sells One-Hit Wonder Music Book to Citadel Press

On May 28, 2002, Frank R. Scatoni of Venture Literary sold the World Rights for Brent Mann’s 99 Red Balloons…and 100 Other All-Time Great One-Hit Wonders to Richard Ember at Citadel Press.

From the Dream Academy’s "Life in a Northern Town" to Donna Lewis’s "I Love You Always Forever," from Katrina & the Waves’s "Walking on Sunshine" to OMC’s "How Bizarre," 99 Red Balloons is a nostalgic jaunt through the world of pop music’s irrepressible one-hit wonders. All of the best one-hitters from the beginning of the 1960s through the end of the 1990s are ranked from #101 to #1. It’s also filled with fascinating bits of trivia that Mann masterfully weaves throughout, in a Pop-Up Video sort of way—while also offering catchy song lyrics and chart positions to make every entry that much more fun.

Brent Mann, a former disc jockey and comedian, was a frequent contributor to The National Lampoon and a joke writer for Jay Leno, before he dropped out of society to obsessively research one-hit wonders.
