In Hunting Fish, Greenspan, managing editor of All In Magazine and founder of www.PokerSavvy.com, chronicles his journey in search of the worst poker players America has to offer, wherever they may be. He starts in his hometown, New York City, where every day he can choose to play with downtown stockbrokers, uptown preppies, or imported-from-Brooklyn Russians. Then, armed with a fat bankroll, he heads west to seek out games amid the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, as well as the tiny border towns of New Mexico and Arizona, where frontier law and guns still rule the day. Finally, he ends up in Los Angeles, the poker capital of the world, where he matches wits with Hollywoods elitea subset of the poker community that has contributed a lot of dead money as of late. Stars like Ben Affleck, Jon Favreau, Tobey Maguire, and David Schwimmer are all poker junkies who are always looking for a game. As Greenspan attempts to extract money from every social class this country has to offer, he examines the bizarre status of gambling laws throughout the countryand the hypocrisy that goes with it. Hunting Fish is also a personal journey; Greenspan has to mollify both his girlfriend and his inner demons as he teeters on the edge of addiction. Moreover, playing strictly for profit leads to unfortunate situations. He describes the grueling hours spent next to smelly, ranting men who spit particles of food while they attempt to eat a tuna sandwich and talk and play poker at the same time. He explains why he has absorbed continual verbal abuse from opponents. He also explains why he cant leave. Jay Greenspan is the creator of PokerSavvy.com and managing editor at All In Magazine, the official magazine of the World Series of Poker. He is also the author of two technology books and the technical editor for Winning Internet Poker for Dummies. He has won poker tournaments in Las Vegas, New York, and Connecticut.
