Venture Literary Sells World Rights to Brawl to ECW Press
On October 22, 2001, Frank Scatoni of Venture Literary sold the world rights to Erich Krauss and Bret Aitas Brawl: An Inside Look at Ultimate Fighting to Robert Lecker of ECW Press. The book is an insiders look at the world of no-holds-barred (NHB) fighting and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Krauss, a no-holds barred fighter, has fought all over the world, and currently trains at the renowned Lions Den in California, where he has interviewed many of the top no-holds-barred fighters, including Ken Shamrock.
In Brawl, Krauss and Aita take the reader from the early days of unsanctioned fighting to the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It examines how the sport drew huge numbers on pay-per-view and why it was shut down based on the lobbying efforts of Senator John McCainbut is now back with a vengeance as a legitimate sporting entity in Las Vegas.
Through personal interviews with legendary fighters, Krauss and Aita chronicle not only the emergence of a new warrior fighting class, but also a darker side to the sportone of vendettas, after-parties, and sordid tales of ring-card girls and drunken back-alley brawls. Brawl is a hard-hitting, no-punches-pulled look at the uncompromising world of NHB fighting, where conflict spawns champions, and champions spawn profits and popularity previously unheard of in the world of mixed martial arts competition.
